Mass Arrests: ICE and Federal Agencies Target Dangerous Immigrants; Over 1K Arrested

Honk NewsJust days after the inauguration of President Donald Trump, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, in collaboration with various federal agencies, have apprehended close to 1,000 individuals facing deportation.

Over the course of six days, federal agents apprehended 956 individuals crossing the border unlawfully and submitted 554 detainer requests to local jails, according to ICE’s report.

Individuals collaborating with ICE consist of personnel from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and U.S. Marshals Service.

On Sunday, January 26, authorities initiated intensified operations in Chicago aimed at enforcing immigration laws and ensuring the safety and security of the public by preventing potentially dangerous individuals from residing in local communities, according to ICE.

On January 22, a Mexican national with outstanding felony drug charges was apprehended by ICE agents in Denver, facing the possibility of removal. The case also received assistance from the Denver Police, according to ICE.

On January 22, federal agents apprehended a suspected member of a notorious gang in New York City, who is sought in El Salvador for extortion-related offenses. The following day, federal agents apprehended a suspected sex trafficker in Buffalo who had exceeded his visa duration.

Agents from ICE ERO-Boston apprehended an individual from Haiti, identified as a confirmed member of a notorious street gang, who has accumulated 17 convictions for violent crimes in Massachusetts over the last decade, encompassing various offenses related to drugs, weapons, and assault and battery. He arrived in the U.S. legally in 2013 in Miami, but breached the conditions of his entry and became a subject for deportation.

On January 23 in Houston, an accused child rapist was sent back to Mexico by ICE agents after having entered the US illegally on four occasions. Authorities in Mexico provided support for the arrest of a man sought in Veracruz.

On Sunday in Miami, authorities conducted multiple arrests in neighborhoods where violent offenders were residing alongside local residents.
