Man Sentenced to 3 Years for Child Neglect and THC Possession After Police Chase

Jonathan Tafolla, aged twenty-six, has received a sentence of three years in prison, along with an additional four years of extended supervision.

Documents from the court indicate that Tafolla was charged with offenses such as child neglect, possession of THC (second offense), criminal trespass, and theft involving an amount less than $2,500. A number of charges were dropped in the plea agreement.

On the morning of April 9, 2024, a deputy from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office observed Tafolla’s vehicle trying to escape law enforcement. Tafolla abandoned his vehicle after a short pursuit, leaving behind a child’s car seat and the scent of marijuana.

He was subsequently seen carrying one child, with another walking alongside him. As the attention turned towards him, Tafolla set the child down and fled before being caught.
