Portland, Oregon — A man who absconded to Arizona more than ten years ago to evade charges of child sexual abuse has received a 25-year prison sentence.
A 49-year-old man, Edwin Hernandez-Rodriguez, has been sentenced by a judge in Washington County for first-degree rape and invasion of personal privacy, according to the Washington County District Attorney’s Office.
In January 2014, a girl revealed to her grandfather that Hernandez-Rodriguez had sexually assaulted her and frequently watched her while she bathed. Incidents of mistreatment occurred at a residence in Hillsboro.
In June 2014, Hernandez-Rodriguez faced indictment, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant. Authorities reported that he escaped the state and was ultimately apprehended in Glendale, Arizona, in February 2023, after which he was extradited to Oregon for his trial.
