Man Molested Two Women after Getting High on Alleged Illegal Substance in Separate Incidents; Arrested in California

Honk News (San Jose, CA) – A registered sex offender was taken into custody last month regarding two sexual assaults that occurred just a day apart, according to the San Jose Police Department. On Thursday, February 27, officers from the SJPD were dispatched following a report of an attempted sexual assault in the 5200 block of Hellyer Avenue.

The authorities report that the survivor willingly entered the suspect’s car. They made a brief stop to collect an item from her residence before proceeding to the vicinity of Hellyer Avenue close to Embedded Away.

The individual in question allegedly informed the survivor of possessing a firearm, although it was not displayed. Upon reaching the location, the individual ingested what authorities suspect to be a regulated substance. Authorities reported that as the survivor tried to escape, the suspect launched a brutal attack and committed sexual assault against her.

The individual managed to escape and signal for help, leading to a call to law enforcement.

Detectives from the Sexual Assault Investigations Unit of SJPD initiated an inquiry that uncovered a comparable incident had taken place the previous day. Authorities have identified Lamont Carter, a registered sex offender, as the suspect in both incidents.

On February 26, at approximately 5:28 p.m., law enforcement arrived at the scene of a reported sexual assault in the 300 block of North Fifth Street, where Carter was involved with a separate victim. The individual encountered the victim, who consented to enter the vehicle for a discussion.

Carter reportedly made several attempts to kiss the victim. She insisted on leaving, but as she tried to exit, he locked the vehicle doors. Authorities reported that he violently attacked the survivor, subjected her to sexual assault, and threatened her with a gun.

The individual who endured the ordeal ultimately managed to break free and seek assistance.

On Friday, February 28, detectives from SAIU, along with members of the SJPD Special Operations Covert Response Unit, successfully captured Carter in San Jose. He was subsequently taken into custody at Santa Clara County Main Jail on various charges, including sexual battery, criminal threats, and false imprisonment.
