In April 2024, officials reported that the victim was almost at full term before subsequently delivering. An investigation has been initiated by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, focusing on obtaining DNA swabs/tests from both current and former male employees.

Officials reported that Fields’ DNA test yielded a positive result, leading to his subsequent arrest. He is looking at a prison term ranging from six to 30 years, and the sentence does not allow for probation.
In a separate development, authorities revealed that Fields has accepted a one-year prison sentence as part of a plea deal for criminal sexual abuse charges. On September 27, 2023, it was reported that Fields engaged in a sexual act with a victim who he was aware could not give consent. The individual involved was not a resident of Marklund Home.
