Man Killed, Four Others Injured in Back-to-Back House Fires

Four people were hurt when fires broke out in two houses next to each other just minutes apart. One of the victims was in his 70s.

West Midlands Fire Service said that crews were first called to a semi-detached house on Bilston’s Lunt Place at 02:19 BST on Saturday. At 02:30, they were called to a second house fire on Marbury Drive, which is right next door.

Four people from the house on Lunt Place were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening. The service also said that a man in his 70s who was found at the separate house on Marbury Drive died at the scene.

Police in the West Midlands said they are looking into both fires because they seem to be related.

A person who lives on Lunt Place said that a loud bang woke them up early Saturday morning.

“Me and neighbours rushed out, the front door was on fire and the flames went up very quickly,” they told us.

The police also said that they were working with the fire department and that cops were still at the scene.
