Man confesses why he shoved a woman into a subway train in New York City

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan – A homeless man explained why he pushed a woman into a moving subway train in New York City on Monday.

Markeese Brazelis, 26, is accused of pushing a 23-year-old woman into a moving A train at the 175th Street subway stop in Washington Heights, Manhattan, around 9 a.m., according to the NYPD.

The victim was waiting on the northbound platform when Brazelis reportedly pushed her as the train arrived, according to the cops. The woman was hit by the train and fell back onto the platform, according to reports.

The woman had bruises on her face, hands, knees, and shoulder, according to reports. The woman told PIX11 News that she was suddenly pushed. She said it was one of her worst days ever.

Witnesses took pictures of the suspect, who was later arrested at the 181st Street stop, according to the police. Brazelis was charged with assault and careless endangerment, police said.

Brazelis was surrounded by news cameras as he was led by NYPD officers and placed in the back of a police car on Monday evening. When PIX11 News asked him why he pushed someone into a moving train, Brazelis said he was hearing “voices.”

Brazelis has been jailed twice before, including once for sexual abuse, according to court records. Brazelis reportedly grabbed a woman’s buttocks on a C train, sources told PIX11 News. Brazelis was charged with trespassing for reportedly walking on the train tracks, according to sources.

“It’s hard to understand how this problem was caught twice last week but then released to cause more trouble.” When will the courthouses receive the information? “We can’t keep going like this,” said Michael Kemper, the MTA Chief Security Officer.
