Man Arrested as He Tried to Molest and Rob a Student in University Dorm in New York

Honk News (Rochester, NY) – A man was taken into custody late Saturday afternoon following an attempt to sexually assault and rob an undergraduate student at the University of Rochester, as reported in a communication to students.

According to investigators, the individual managed to gain access to Genesee Hall, a dormitory for first-year students, by catching a door just as it was closing. Officials reported that he had no connection to the university and was quickly apprehended and taken off the premises.

“The safety and security of our campus community is paramount. While incidents like this are uncommon on our campus, we all must be vigilant in taking precautions to prevent criminal activity. This includes not letting any unknown person into a secured campus building, and after opening a door to enter a building, ensuring that it closes behind you,” the university announced.
