Long Island Child Therapist Charged with Distributing Sex Abuse Videos; Community in Disbelief

A therapist specializing in children’s care from Long Island, N.Y., has been taken into custody and faces charges related to the distribution of illicit materials involving minors, as reported by the U.S. Justice Department last week.

On Wednesday, Oct. 23, the DOJ revealed that Renee Hoberman faced arraignment on charges arising from an investigation into her alleged sharing and discussion of child sex abuse videos on social media over five months earlier in 2024.

A 36-year-old individual is accused of utilizing social media to share videos featuring infant children in sexually explicit situations from June to October of this year, as stated in the legal complaint filed against her, according to the Department of Justice.

The DOJ claims that Hoberman’s posts feature videos depicting infants being assaulted by an adult male. The Justice Department’s complaint reveals that Hobreman allegedly assumed a male identity online and engaged in conversations with other social media users regarding the sexual abuse of young children.

Hoberman reportedly transmitted videos depicting sexual acts involving infants and asserted that the young children featured were “his” own, boasting about inflicting sexual violence upon them, as stated in the complaint submitted by the Justice Department.

Hoberman, recognized as “Rina” Hoberman, served as a therapist for an organization located in Melville, N.Y., where she worked with children aged 0 to 17, as reported by the DOJ.

Authorities conducted a search of Hoberman’s residence in Plainview, N.Y., following the announcement of charges against her last week.
