Caroline Van Ness and James had two children: their daughter was  Elizabeth Bird Van Ness, who later married Francis “Frank” McCoppin and then she became mayor like her father in San Francisco, and her son named Thomas Casey “T.C.”

Van Ness, became a lawyer and was named after his step-grandfather, Dr. Thomas Casey, who was the second husband of Caroline’s mother.

Funeral Detail Of Lesley Van Ness’s Death

A funeral service for Lesley Swick Van Ness will be held at St. John’s Anglican Parish on April 17, followed by burial at Woodland Cemetery, Quincy.

Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors will handle the arrangements. No visitation is scheduled, but friends and family may attend his service.

The Herald-Whig published the obituary from April 11 to April 12, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested planting a tree in Lesley’s memory.
