Abilene, TX: Five individuals, including a man from Las Vegas, are charged with open murder for allegedly beating, shooting, and killing his sister’s spouse in response to him striking her, as stated in police records.
David Coulson Jr. is charged with house burglary, open murder, and conspiracy to commit murder, according to records. Metro police received a call from a woman stating that her husband had been shot just before 12:15 a.m. on Jan. 17. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the victim, identified as Kyle Dotson, deceased inside a property on Helen Belle Drive in the 1400 block, with an apparent gunshot wound.
According to the victim’s wife, on January 13, she and Dotson went out for supper and cocktails to commemorate her birthday. Upon returning home in the early morning hours of Jan. 14, the two individuals engaged in an argument regarding Dotson’s suspicion that she had been unfaithful to him in the past, as reported by the police.
Dotson proceeded to enter the bathroom and ingested cocaine through his nasal passages, leading to a relapse in his sobriety. During the fight, Dotson repeatedly punched his wife in the face before fleeing the residence, as stated in the complaint.
On January 15, Dotson’s wife experienced considerable facial edema and received a FaceTime call from her father, David Coulson Sr. He inquired about the injuries on her face, and she reassured him that Dotson had relapsed, as reported by the police.
Later that day, Coulson Jr., her brother, arrived at her home bearing a gift. Coulson Jr. informed her that he was present “on assignment” as their father had informed him about Dotson assaulting her, according to the report.
Dotson discovered that his wife’s relatives planned to seek revenge on him, prompting him to reach out to a relative to obtain a firearm. The report indicates uncertainty over his acquisition of a firearm.
Dotson and his wife heard a knock at the door on January 17. Dotson observed Coulson Jr. through the peephole. Dotson appeared astonished when he opened the door and mentioned that Coulson Jr. was accompanied by a large number of people, according to the police.
Coulson Jr., Coulson Sr., Shaleece Brown, Veronica Nezey, and Jimmy James Johnson, who is Dotson’s wife’s cousin, quickly entered the residence, as reported by the police.

Coulson Jr. and Coulson Sr. assaulted Dotson by knocking him to the floor and physically attacking him. During the altercation, Brown entered the 15-year-old daughter’s bedroom to get a gun that she had previously concealed there, according to the police.
Documents indicate that Brown engaged in a physical altercation with the 15-year-old daughter. Dotson’s wife subsequently overheard her brother and father summoning Johnson to enter the residence. The report stated that she recognized the issue as Johnson being sent in to harm Dotson because she believed Johnson was a dangerous individual.
Dotson’s wife escorted Johnson out, allowing Dotson to proceed down the corridor towards the garage. Brown provided Coulson Jr. with the revolver found in the 15-year-old’s bedroom, and he proceeded to shoot Dotson multiple times, according to the police.
The five suspects departed the residence following the incident. According to the authorities, Coulson Sr., Nezey, and Johnson resided in California and journeyed to Las Vegas to carry out the crime. Coulson Jr. and Brown reside in Las Vegas.
On January 24th, Brown, aged 33, surrendered to authorities after being recognized by police as a suspect in the case. She is charged with open murder, conspiracy to commit murder, child abuse or neglect, and house burglary.
On January 31, a second suspect named Coulson, Sr., aged 56, was apprehended by the police in Los Angeles. He is charged with open murder.
Nezey, aged 54, was recognized by law enforcement as the third suspect in the case when she surrendered to authorities at the Clark County Detention Center on February 5, as reported by the Las Vegas Metropolitan police.
Johnson, aged 45, was apprehended by the Anaheim Police Department on February 14th.

Coulson Jr., aged 36, was apprehended on February 16 by the Criminal Apprehension Team and taken into custody at the Clark County Detention Center on charges of open murder with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit murder, and burglary.
