After six years of allegedly grounding their 11-year-old child, a Madisonville couple are now in custody, according to investigators.
A house visit in which a youngster had allegedly been “grounded” since the age of five led to the arrest of Krystal and Aaron Day, according to a police report.
The child allegedly suffered punishments such as being refused meals or confined to their bedroom for long periods of time if they disobeyed their captors. Investigators were informed that the child was not allowed to leave their room and was forced to face a wall corner.
The youngster, who weighed just 54 pounds, was discovered on the bedroom floor, with his back to the wall, and was obviously undernourished, according to the authorities.
After talking to another kid in the house, it was learned that the kid couldn’t leave the bedroom for anything other than eating, school, and bathroom breaks.
It was said that the 11-year-old had not eaten a family meal since 2019 and was ordered to remain in her bedroom if she was not in school.
To further isolate the 11-year-old from the rest of the family, a big piece of cardboard was stacked in the backseat of the family automobile.
Krystal Day and Aaron Dayare facing first-degree criminal allegations of child abuse.
