Honk News (Atchison, KS) – A Kansas man has been taken into custody and faces charges after reportedly impersonating a Walmart security officer and allegedly sexually assaulting a woman inside the store.
Authorities in Atchison, Kansas, announced on Tuesday the arrest of 42-year-old Justin Metz from Leavenworth. Recent updates reveal that Metz faces serious charges including kidnapping, rape, aggravated sexual battery, and theft.
Authorities launched an investigation on March 9 following a report of an assault involving a woman at the Walmart situated at 1920 U.S. 73 in Atchison.
In a recent report, authorities revealed that the victim recounted her experience of exiting the store during the late afternoon of March 9, when she was confronted by an individual claiming to be “an asset protection officer” affiliated with the establishment.
A woman reported that a man took her to a restroom at the rear of the store, where he proceeded to sexually assault her.
Authorities quickly established that the individual was not part of the staff.
During their ongoing investigation into the assault, Atchison police reported receiving another account on March 16 regarding the individual, later recognized as Metz, who had returned to the Walmart store. Authorities swiftly apprehended him within the store premises.
The inquiry into the event continues to unfold. Metz continues to be held in the Atchison County jail as of Tuesday, with no court date established at this time.
