Honk News (Geneva, IL) – A man has been sentenced to over 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting and impregnating a disabled resident at an assisted living facility in Geneva in 2023.
Isaiah Fields, aged 24, has received a 25-year sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a victim with a severe intellectual disability, rendering them unable to provide consent, as announced by Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser on Friday.
Prosecutors allege that during the period from August 1, 2023, to September 5, 2023, Fields, then 22 years old, committed a sexual assault against a resident of Marklund Home in Geneva, a facility dedicated to offering residential, educational, and therapeutic services to individuals of all ages with significant developmental disabilities and special healthcare requirements.
In April 2024, it was revealed that the victim was almost fully pregnant due to the assault and subsequently gave birth.
As part of the inquiry into the assault, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office deputies collected buccal swab DNA samples from both current and former male staff members.
Fields was subsequently apprehended following the positive results of his DNA test.
On January 14, Fields entered a guilty plea for one felony charge of aggravated criminal sexual assault.
In an earlier announcement made in mid-January regarding Fields’ guilty plea, Mosser mentioned that he resided in Chicago. In the latest announcement regarding his sentence, Mosser noted that Fields resided in Batavia.
Judge John Barsanti delivered the sentence for Fields, who is required to serve a minimum of 85% of it as mandated by state law.
Alongside his prison sentence, Fields is required to register for life as a sexual offender under the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.
Fields is set to receive recognition for 308 days spent in the Kane County jail.
