Jefferson City Man Apprehended for causing Truck Accident and Attacking Semi Driver in Camden County while High on Drugs

Camden, NJ:  State troopers were alerted early Tuesday morning about a car accident in Camden County on Highway 73, approximately five miles south of Macks Creek.

Upon arrival, troopers were informed that Aidan Montoya had been driving recklessly in his pickup truck before the crash.

According to a semi driver, Montoya lost control of his pickup while passing the semi at a high speed. Montoya’s truck veered off the road, crashed through a barbed wire fence, hit and demolished a utility pole, crossed a field, and then went through the fence again.

The driver of the semi explained to troopers that his truck collided with powerlines that were hanging over the road as a result of Montoya’s accident. At that moment, the driver halted the tractor trailer and saw Montoya approaching him. Court documents reveal that Montoya proceeded to enter the semi and attack the driver.

During Montoya’s transport to the hospital after his arrest, the reporting trooper observed a white powdery substance in both of his nostrils. Montoya confessed to snorting approximately four grams of cocaine prior to the collision, according to court documents.

Montoya faces charges for leaving the scene of an accident causing over $1,000 in damage, fourth-degree assault, and driving under the influence.
