Island Boys Rapper Franky Venegas Arrested on Gun and Drug Charges in Florida

Honk News (Naples, FL) – Franky Venegas, known for his association with the “Island Boys” rap group, was taken into custody this past weekend in southwest Florida facing charges related to firearms and narcotics.

A 23-year-old individual named Venegas was taken into custody on Sunday in Naples, facing allegations related to the possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and the possession of an altered firearm, as reported by the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

As detailed in the arrest report, Venegas was riding in a vehicle that was stopped on Sunday night because the driver neglected to halt at a stop sign while exiting a gas station.

Officials reported that a sergeant instructed the two individuals to leave the vehicle, as he had called for a K-9 unit to conduct a search of the vehicle.

Officials reported that the two followed instructions, and a clear plastic Ziploc bag containing five Oxycodone pills was discovered on the passenger side floorboard.

Authorities reported the discovery of a firearm located within a brown handbag, accompanied by a plastic straw that had been altered and contained a white powdery substance.

The arrest report indicates that Venegas chose to waive his Miranda rights and consented to respond to the sergeant’s inquiries; however, the details of his statements to the sergeant have been omitted from the publicly available report.

The Island Boys, featuring Venegas and his twin brother Alex, gained popularity in 2021 with their breakout track “I’m an Island Boy.”

Venegas, who goes by the stage name Kodiyakredd, faced arrest in Fort Lauderdale in May 2024. A Lake Worth resident faced allegations of impersonating his brother during a reckless driving stop.

Documents indicate that he had been arrested earlier by the Broward Sheriff’s Office in May 2023 in Pompano Beach on charges of assaulting his live-in girlfriend.

Prosecutors officially dismissed the misdemeanor battery case on May 16, 2023, according to court records.
