Investigation ongoing after 2 taken into Custody for Fatal Shooting in Lincoln Park

Two people of interest are being held in relation to the shooting death of 28-year-old Kevin Patel last week on a pavement in Lincoln Park close to his residence.

On Wednesday, Chicago police provided NBC Chicago with confirmation of the information. There were no additional details given regarding the case or the persons of interest.

Officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 800 block of West Lill Avenue, close to the junction of Lill and Halsted, at around 9:20 p.m. on April 16. A 28-year-old man who had been shot in the chest was found on the pavement by the time police arrived.

The individual was later recognised as Chicago resident Kevin Patel by the Cook County Medical Examiner. The office claims that Patel was murdered in front of his home.

Patel was sent to a neighbouring medical facility. According to police, he was later declared deceased.

Several police cars were seen at the scene, and the crossroads were surrounded by yellow caution tape, according to video that was shared on social media soon after the incident.

According to witnesses, a man and a woman were seen walking away from the site.

Ald. Timmy Knudsen, 43rd Ward, told the community in a message that there was no known link between the victim and any of the accused.

The letter went on to say, “This is just another reminder of the work we have to do as a City to combat violence.” “I’ve asked the 19th district to increase patrols in the area, and as we head into the summer, I will continue to push City Hall for the resources our Ward needs.”

An inquiry was still in progress.
