Authorities are currently looking into the discovery of a deceased newborn infant in front of a concrete industrial plant in Harris County.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared on X that the infant was found in front of the plant located in the 15000 block of Henry Road in the Aldine area.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office was notified about the infant at approximately 2 p.m., according to Maj. John Nanny.
He reported that the baby was discovered in a ditch by a lawn crew who were working nearby. According to Nanny, the infant was found partially clothed and lying on a blanket in the ditch.
According to a detective at the scene, the newborn was identified as a Black female and still had the umbilical cord attached. It was thought that she had only been in the ditch for a few hours.
The cause and manner of death have not been disclosed. Authorities have not yet identified any suspects.
Nanny also emphasized the importance of exploring alternative solutions in situations where a parent is unable to provide care for their child.
“There has been a few of these happen recently so I would like to mention the (Baby) Moses Law,” Nanny said.
