Honk News (Morgan County, IN) – A former high school educator in Indiana displayed her adult toys, stripper poles, and narcotics to her students, subsequently leading to allegations of sexual assault, according to court filings.
Brittany Fortinberry, 31, a former middle school math teacher at Eminence Community Schools in Morgan County, located 40 miles south of Indianapolis, is currently facing several serious charges. These include sexual misconduct with a minor, dissemination of harmful material to a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
A teacher faces charges related to two alleged incidents, having been initially suspended by the district in August 2024 after the allegations came to light. Following the announcement of her suspension, Fortinberry stepped down from her role. Records indicate that a marriage license was granted to Fortinberry in 2021.
In August 2024, Fortinberry reportedly sent a series of inappropriate messages via Instagram to two students, which included images and videos of sex toys, a stripper pole located in her home, and explicit photos, according to Fox59.
Court documents reveal that a search warrant executed at the teacher’s residence uncovered items that corresponded with the descriptions provided by the students.
“It is just bizarre you come to a school, see a teacher and you are supposed to be able to trust them”, a student told investigators, as per the documents.
According to reports from Fox59, Fortinberry allegedly expressed to officers her regret over losing weight, suggesting that if she had remained 150 pounds heavier, she would have avoided any issues.
In a separate case, Fortinberry faces allegations of molesting a student following a report made to the police in December 2024. A woman claimed that her 16-year-old grandson had been abused when he was 15, shortly after the inappropriate messages were reportedly uncovered.
A teenage boy allegedly received drugs, and at one moment, Fortinberry reportedly threatened to end her life if he disclosed the abuse, as claimed by the grandmother to law enforcement.
In an interview, the young individual revealed that the educator had sent him explicit images via Snapchat prior to subjecting him to multiple instances of sexual assault, including a trip to French Lick, a town located in southern Indiana.
The young man claims he was not the only one subjected to her mistreatment.
Fortinberry is said to be in custody without bond and attended her first hearing on Thursday afternoon.
