A Venezuelan migrant who entered the US unlawfully is facing allegations of sexually assaulting his employer’s 14-year-old daughter while residing in the family’s basement in Colorado, according to sources from Homeland Security.
A 20-year-old man, Jesus Alberto Pereira Castillo, was taken into custody in Denver on Tuesday, following almost three months of evading law enforcement after being accused of a sexual assault, as reported by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities responded to the residence where Castillo was staying on August 29, after receiving reports that he allegedly assaulted a 14-year-old girl that evening. Unfortunately, he had already left by the time the authorities arrived.
Authorities successfully located him in Denver, adjacent to Jefferson County to the east, and took him into custody this week.
In September 2023, Castillo entered El Paso, Texas, without authorization and was subsequently released by Border Patrol agents due to a lack of available detention space, according to sources from Homeland Security.
The Venezuelan migrant intended to reach Orlando but found himself in Colorado, where he was arrested in May on charges related to possessing tools for forgery and larceny, according to sources.
After the incident, authorities issued a request for Castillo’s apprehension, according to sources. The individual is presently under the care of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Since December 2022, Denver has welcomed 40,000 newcomers, marking the highest rate of arrivals per capita in the country. Authorities have not provided any evidence suggesting that Castillo was connected to the gang.
