Honk News (Chicago, IL) – A father from Illinois shared a surveillance video that he claims captures a daycare employee pushing his 4-year-old son into a trash bin.
Authorities in the village of Homewood took Anna Petrou, 58, into custody for a misdemeanor charge related to endangering a child’s life. It is alleged that just prior to the garbage incident, she placed the same child in an alley for roughly 20 seconds in approximately 19-degree weather. Authorities indicated that her actions were intended as a means of retribution.
The video captures a young child in a blue shirt energetically bouncing around. A woman approaches him, takes hold of his arm, and guides him to a wall, where she lifts him and places him into a white garbage can. He remained inside for several minutes, seemingly seated for a significant portion of that time.
In the end, the woman places what appears to be a blanket over the container, concealing him beneath it. At last, she removes the blanket and frees the child from the garbage can.

Justin Barnes shared on Facebook that his son experiences “a medical condition that can be triggered by stress.”
“After investigation, it was confirmed that one of the daycare workers placed my child inside a garbage can for nearly four minutes and covered his head with a blanket simply because he refused to take a nap,” he wrote. “While the employee claimed this was a joke, the video footage clearly shows my child in visible distress, struggling against this humiliating treatment. This not only traumatized my child but also posed a serious risk to the emotional well-being of the other children who witnessed this appalling behavior. Additionally, it is alarming that another staff member was present and chose to do nothing to intervene.”
