Hot Air Balloon Collided with Power Lines during New Mexico Balloon Festival: Authorities

During a festival in New Mexico, a hot air balloon collided with a power line, resulting in a fire. The incident happened on the final day of the 52nd Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.

A balloon experienced a partial fire on Saturday after coming into contact with power lines and landing at a construction site in northwest Albuquerque. Officials report that there were no injuries and the blaze was swiftly put out.

On Friday, a balloon pilot carrying two passengers collided with a radio tower, causing it to topple west of Balloon Fiesta Park.

For the second time in two decades, a balloon made contact with that tower.

Everyone on board, including the pilot and passengers, emerged unscathed from the incident and managed to land without issue, although the radio station remained silent until Saturday.

On Wednesday, an individual was said to have sustained a head injury after a balloon collided with a large tree during its landing attempt at a golf course.

A gondola became stranded 25 feet in the air, necessitating the rescue of the two additional passengers on board the balloon.

On Tuesday, close to 13,000 customers experienced a power outage lasting nearly an hour due to a balloon making contact with a power line in Albuquerque.
