High-Speed Ford Bronco Chase Spans 2 Counties, Ends in Fiery 6-Car Crash FHP

HERNANDO COUNTY, FLA – The Florida Highway Patrol said that a driver of a Ford Bronco led police on a high-speed chase through two counties before hitting six other cars on Wednesday morning.

Troopers said they got a call from the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office after Efton Wanfield Miller, driving a Ford Bronco, ran away from a traffic stop and then tried to hit a deputy who was doing a separate traffic stop.

Authorities said they saw Miller going very fast on US-19 and started to chase him.

The FHP said it couldn’t safely do a PIT move on the driver because they were going so fast. But the driver hit the policeman with his brakes, and the two cars crashed during the chase.

Then, FHP said Miller hit six cars at the Wendy Lane crossing in Hernando County. One guy was hurt very badly.

Miller was caught and charged with driving while impaired, aggravated fleeing to escape, aggravated battery on a police officer, and driving while impaired.

Police said they looked inside Miller’s Bronco and found two knives, brass knuckles, a Bow and Arrow, a Crossbow, and a police radio.

FHP said he was also charged with felon in possession of weapons and ammo.
