Fort Collins Police Arrest Suspect After Early Morning Burglary and Foot Chase

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – A 21-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday morning after a burglary in progress led to a large police response and short foot chase, according to Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS).

Authorities identified the suspect as Nicholas Wilcoxon, born April 17, 2004, who now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following his arrest.

Timeline of the Incident

Police said the incident began around 5:01 a.m. on November 18, 2025, when officers were dispatched to a report of a burglary in progress in the 2000 block of Shandy Street. When officers arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene.

In coordination with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), deputies, a drone team, and a K9 unit were deployed to track the suspect. The search led authorities to Collins Aire Trailer Park, located at 401 N. Timberline Road, where Wilcoxon was spotted.

Officials said he attempted to flee on foot, briefly running into an unrelated residence before exiting and being apprehended by officers without further incident.

Charges Filed Against the Suspect

Wilcoxon was booked into the Larimer County Jail and faces the following charges:

  • Class 4 Felony – Robbery – Residence – Strongarm (1 count)
  • Class 3 Felony – Second-Degree Burglary – No Force Entry – Residence (2 counts)
  • Class 6 Felony – Theft from Burglary ($2,000–$4,999) (1 count)
  • Class 1 Misdemeanor – Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) (1 count)
  • Class 2 Misdemeanor – Resisting Arrest (1 count)
  • Class 2 Misdemeanor – Obstructing a Peace Officer (1 count)

Ongoing Investigation

“This arrest was the result of swift teamwork between multiple agencies,” an FCPS spokesperson said. “Thanks to quick coordination, officers were able to safely locate and detain the suspect.”

Police reminded the public that charges are accusations only, and the suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
