Authorities found a drunk teenager inside the home of a Florida police officer who they say plied with alcohol before playing around with her. The officer was subsequently arrested by his department.
The 26-year-old ex-Tallahassee police officer Danny Moore allegedly met the minor on an app and planned to meet in the parking lot of a shopping center, according to a news release from the Tallahassee Police Department.
According to the authorities, Moore then drove the girl to a liquor store, where he purchased alcohol for her. Then, he brought her to his apartment, where they had sexual relations.
Reports of a child believed to be intoxicated prompted authorities to react Monday night to the Jackson Square Apartments, according to the authorities.
After police asked Moore for his real identity, he lied about his age and profession and then admitted that the adolescent girl had been in his flat, the authorities said. After locating the underage drinker, police transported her to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
After apprehending Moore, investigators learned he was a police officer for that very department.
Moore was promptly fired, according to the police. He had joined the force in July 2023.
Law enforcement officials are subject to the strictest penalties, according to Police Chief Lawrence Revell.
Tolerance for officer wrongdoing is just not acceptable, he emphasized. “Our officers have sworn an oath to defend this community, and they will all face the consequences for violating the principles, policies, and laws of TPD and the state of Florida.”
Moore faces accusations of contributing to a minor’s delinquency, lewd and lascivious conduct, lewd and lascivious molestation, and lewd and lascivious battery.
As the matter is still being investigated, the police have indicated that he may be subject to more charges.
