Honk News (Polk County, FL) – A woman in Florida has been arrested for stealing electricity and unleashing her large dog on utility workers who approached her, as reported by local law enforcement.
Tiffany Perkins, 28, faces a range of charges. These include aggravated assault, aggravated battery, creating or maintaining a nuisance, larceny related to a utility, grand theft, animal cruelty, burning unpermitted materials, operating an unpermitted landfill, misusing the 911 system, and resisting an officer. Additionally, she is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
An incident took place on February 25 at a home on Sugar Pine Loop in Lake Wales, a medium-sized city located in central Florida, as stated in a press release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy showed up at the residence late in the morning after receiving a call from two workers at Duke Energy, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
According to law enforcement, employees from the energy company visited Perkins’ residence to look into what seemed to be a potential theft of utilities.
The Sheriff’s Office stated in the press release, “Tiffany released her dogs at them,” claiming that Perkins had her dogs attack the utility workers.
Once the deputy arrived and started talking to her, Perkins reportedly called 911 on her own.

“As the deputy moved toward Tiffany to arrest her, he was attacked by a Great Dane, causing injury to his arm and eye,” the sheriff’s office alleged. The defendant reportedly continued to resist arrest and was then tasered and arrested.
“The investigation determined that Tiffany was indeed stealing electricity from Duke Energy after they had cut the power from her home,” the sheriff’s office press release continues. “Animal Control responded and recovered a second Great Dane that was in extremely poor health. Both Great Danes were removed from the property.”
The defendant faced charges for improper disposal of waste tires, maintaining an open septic tank, and trespassing without involving any structure or vehicle.
Perkins is now in custody at the Polk County Jail with a total bond set at $48,500, according to records from the sheriff’s office.
