Florida Teacher Busted Naked in Elementary School Classroom; Inappropriate Toys also Found along with Drugs in Port St. Lucie

Port St. Lucie, FL- A teacher in Florida was arrested after being discovered unclothed inside an elementary school.

Joe Urias faces multiple charges, including lewd and lascivious behavior, burglary of an unoccupied structure, marijuana possession, and battery on an officer, as detailed in an arrest affidavit. No formal charges have been filed against him yet.

Police responded to Windmill Point Elementary School on Thursday night after a deputy found a 34-year-old man inappropriately in one of the classrooms, as stated in the affidavit.

“When the male saw [the sheriff’s deputy] he quickly clothed himself and began to run toward the back of the building before making his way outdoors,” per the affidavit.

According to the affidavit, Urias reportedly struck the sheriff’s deputy in the face when the deputy attempted to arrest him.

“[The sheriff’s deputy] then gained control of the male against one of the buildings while waiting for backup to arrive,” states the affidavit. “Several other officers went on scene and aided in placing the male in handcuffs.”

Officers found a laptop, food, clothing, sex toys, and a small amount of marijuana in a clear plastic container during their search in a classroom.

Urias reportedly informed officers that he was homeless and accessed the school via an unlocked window.

Authorities confirmed that Urias worked as an educator at Somerset College Preparatory Academy.

The school was unavailable for comment.

“There were no children present,” Port St. Lucie Police Chief Leo Niemczyk said. “There was nobody inside the school at the time. He was by himself. You know, as to the vulgarity, I think I just don’t even want to get into his mind and think about what he was thinking.”

A $31,000 bond has been set for him at St. Lucie County Jail.
