Florida Mother Forced 14-year-old Daughter’s Head in Bathtub; Arrested after Teen Died from Drowning in Poinciana

A 14-year-old girl in Florida has tragically passed away after her mother allegedly submerged her head in a bathtub, according to law enforcement authorities.

During a news conference on Wednesday, Nov. 20, Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez reported that officers were dispatched to a residence in Poinciana that morning following a call about a “armed disturbance” involving the victim’s mother, Kelsey Glover, 35.

Lopez reported that when they arrived, the disturbance “was still ongoing” at the residence. Officers tried to take a hammer from Glover as she was “trying to strike the lady who [was] trying to prevent her from harming her daughter.”

“It was just something that we caught in the act, and God only knows in which direction that was going to go if we didn’t get there on time and kick the door in,” said Lopez pointing out that four individuals were present in the residence during the event: Glover, her 14-year-old daughter Giselle, a roommate, and another child.

After Glover was taken into custody, deputies talked to individuals at the residence who revealed that Giselle was “upstairs in the bathroom and unresponsive.”

“Witnesses also told deputies that they saw Ms. Glover holding her 14-year-old daughter’s head underwater in the bathtub. They tried to stop her but were not successful. Eventually, Ms. Glover began attacking and chasing these witnesses around the house with a hammer, which led them to call also 911,” said Lopez.

A teenager was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead soon after arrival, according to Lopez. As authorities wait for the medical examiner’s report on Giselle’s cause of death, the sheriff’s department has initiated a homicide investigation. Glover faced charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery.

Glover is currently in custody at the Osceola County Jail and is not eligible for bail. Lopez reported that authorities are looking into the reasons behind Glover’s actions of holding her daughter’s head underwater, mentioning that she has been “a little uncooperative” during the investigation so far.

“Hopefully, we’ll get to the bottom of that soon. That’s why, right now, we’re charging her with those other charges. But as soon as this gets concluded, the other charges will be charged, according to what occurred,” said Lopez.

The sheriff reported that the only past incident related to domestic issues involved Glover allegedly assaulting her daughter’s father, which led him to seek an injunction against her.
