A man from Fort Worth is charged with intoxication manslaughter following a tragic head-on collision that resulted in the death of an 83-year-old woman earlier this month, according to officials.
On October 18, officers from the Azle police department were dispatched to the 13500 block of FM 730 S to investigate a significant collision.
According to a social media update from law enforcement, an initial inquiry suggests that a Toyota Tundra traveling north veered across the center line and struck a Honda CR-V.
Authorities have taken 64-year-old William Charles Salathe into custody, charging him with intoxication manslaughter involving a vehicle, as reported by police. The inquiry into the incident continues to unfold.
A head-on collision resulted in serious injuries for the driver of the Honda. An 83-year-old woman, named Marjorie Ann Henley according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner, passed away at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth later that evening.
As noted in her online memorial, Henley served as an ordained minister and was deeply involved in the political arena. During the upcoming Republican primary, she is among five contenders competing for the 12th Congressional District position to succeed Rep. Kay Granger.
