Honk News (Dallas County, IA) – Authorities have taken two men from central Iowa into custody following accusations of sexual abuse involving a minor at a residence in rural Dallas County.
In 2024, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, while collaborating with the Federal Bureau of Investigation on a case, uncovered evidence related to the alleged sexual abuse. Following an extensive investigation that spanned several months, involved numerous search warrants, and required the analysis of digital evidence, authorities have made two arrests.
Cheyenne Bretsch, 27, from DeSoto, was taken into custody on March 11th and faces four counts related to third-degree sexual abuse. On March 13th, authorities took Ross Bretsch, 56, from Ankeny, into custody on seven charges of sexual abuse.
Two individuals, identified in court documents as a father and son, are currently in custody at the Dallas County Jail.
The DCSO reports that the same victim was sexually abused by the men during the summers of 2019 and 2020. A request for a search warrant submitted in the case indicated that the victim was initially registered at an archery academy operated by Ross Bretsch. At the time of the abuse, she was just 14 and 15 years old.
A preliminary hearing for the individuals is set for March 24th at the Dallas County Courthouse.
