The New York Police Department said that a fight over a bus seat turned deadly over Mother’s Day weekend and killed a father of three girls.
Several local news sites, citing the NYPD, said that the fatal stabbing victim was identified as 41-year-old Alvin Francis of Queens, New York.
Todman-Francis told the New York Daily News that the last thing he said to her was, “See you when I get home.”
She was scared when he didn’t come home.
“He hadn’t called, so I tracked his phone and found him at the police station.” For that reason, Todman-Francis, 36, said, “I called the precinct.” Soon after, police officers came to their house and told them the terrible news.
“He got into a fight on the bus,” his wife said she was told. “It’s being looked into,” she said. I don’t know a single thing. I’m lost too, like everyone else.
People did not get an answer right away from the NYPD.
The event took place just before 2 p.m. on May 11, according to Brooklyn News 12.
NBC New York says Francis and an unknown person were fighting on the J90 shuttle bus while it was stopped near Crescent Street and Etna Street in Cypress Hills. The person who stabbed the victim in the stomach then ran away.
The father who had died was taken to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was later declared dead. As of Monday, May 12, no one had been arrested.
“I heard screaming, so I looked out my window and saw that the bus had stopped there. Everyone was running off the bus, and the police were here in less than three seconds,” a nearby neighbor told News 12.
She and her husband had been married for 21 years. In August, they were going to renew their vows, which they said they would do five years ago.
They had three boys together. He was on his way home to have dinner with his family for Mother’s Day.
His wife told him, “He works hard.” “Work and home—truly work and home, and Home Depot is his favorite place.”
It was said that Francis worked on Sunday to get extra money for his son’s middle school graduation.
A friend told the Daily News, “Everyone is sad about it.” “He was from the area.” Family man. Working hard. That is, we are still thinking about it. It’s hard.”
