Last week, a toddler was taken to Wolfson Children’s Hospital in serious condition after severe child abuse inflicted by her mother and mother’s boyfriend.
The biological father of 22-month-old Zamora Foe informed that his daughter was removed from life support on Sept. 19 and passed away due to injuries that resulted in the arrest and charges of child neglect against her mother and her mother’s boyfriend.
A vigil was held on Saturday for 22-month-old Zamora Foe, attended by family and friends.
“Today she was unplugged. She’s gone. Officially, there is nothing there. No air. Nothing,” Brandon Foe said of his daughter, Zamora.
Her organs were donated ten days later.
The circumstances that resulted in her hospitalization led to the arrest of her biological mother, 20-year-old Zayla Goodwin, along with her mother’s boyfriend, 22-year-old Nathanial Davis. The pair stays behind bars facing allegations of neglecting a child.
Zamora’s biological father expressed that he will always remember the moment the police informed him that his daughter had sustained broken bones all over her body and head.
A heavily redacted arrest report reveals that the child sustained injuries within her mother’s residence. The report reveals that Goodwin reported to the police that a disturbance in the living room roused her and subsequently found her boyfriend administering CPR to her unresponsive daughter.
Following discussions between doctors and law enforcement regarding the child’s injuries, the homicide unit of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was alerted, resulting in the execution of a search warrant at the mother’s residence.
Authorities arrested Goodwin and Davis after gathering evidence from the house, along with their statements and the findings of a medical examination.
