Back in December, they Declared the trailer would drop on January 31st as part of Fast & Furious 9 Concert that features performances by Charlie Puth, Cardi B, Wiz Khalifa, Ludacris, and Ozuna.
Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Charlize Theron are set to return For the ninth movie in the long-running Fast & Furious series in May, however, when the first film in the series premiered way back in 2001, no one could have called what it would lead to.
The movie borrowed the title from a long-forgotten’50s B-movie and has been a street drama. It was a commercial success, which ensured that a sequel which was also a box office hit.
However, as we have seen many times before, that momentum can be kept up by a couple of film series. There is always a point where audiences start to eliminate interest and move onto the next hot film franchise.
But amazingly, 19 years later, the Fast & Furious franchise is much more popular than ever before. The most recent movie in the main series–2017’s The Fate of the Furious–totaled over $1.23 billion at the worldwide box office, and while last year’s spin-off Hobbs & Shaw was not as powerful, it still made an impressive $758 million.
The show itself has changed considerably as the years have gone; the movies have become more and more ridiculous, and the small stunts of this very first movie transformed into some truly wild and outlandish action, together with all the street racing plots shifting towards heists, chases, and general automotive insanity.
All helped by a cast of modern action celebrities of course, including Jason Statham, Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, and Diesel. But it has not all been fun behind the camera.
The Tragic death of Paul Walker during the creation of Quick 7 in 2013 left some to wonder whether the series would survive, and there were public feuds between Johnson and Diesel, Johnson and Tyrese, along with Rodriguez and author Chris Morgan.
None of them have hurt the series fiscally, nevertheless –they might even have helped–and audiences seemingly can’t get enough of Dominic Toretto and his”family.”
The movie in the show arrives in theatres this year. Most details are under wraps, however, the film finished generation In November, and with the trailer impending, expect a lot more information concerning the film. But for now, Here’s everything we know so far about Fast & Furious 9.
