Honk News (BUFFALO, NY) – A teacher from Amherst Central High School was taken into custody on Friday facing several felony charges related to child exploitation, according to an announcement from New York State Police regarding incidents in Fairfax, V.A.
According to a letter from Superintendent Anthony Panella addressed to faculty, staff, and families, Geoffrey Testa, 45, from Amherst, serves as an English teacher in the district. Testa has been a part of the district since 2006, as noted on his LinkedIn profile.
In the correspondence, Panella indicated that the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office reached out to New York State Police regarding an inquiry into Testa, who was taken into custody on “charges of alleged online misconduct involving a minor.”

Authorities in Fairfax have announced that Testa’s arrest is linked to an extensive investigation by their department, although specific charges have not been disclosed as of Saturday afternoon.
The district is committed to offering assistance to those in need, with school administrators and counselors available as resources for support.
Testa has been processed and is now at the Erie County Holding Center. The Fairfax Police Department is currently handling his extradition, according to the New York State Police.
