Honk News (Glendale, CA) – Police report that an Amazon delivery driver has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor and a woman while on the job.
A delivery driver for Amazon in California faces allegations of sexually assaulting a minor and a woman during two different incidents while working. Authorities are encouraging any other possible victims to step forward.
Fernando Barreto-Hernandez was arrested on January 24 after being accused of sexually assaulting a minor while delivering Amazon packages in Los Angeles in December 2024, according to a news release from the Glendale Police Department (GPD).
On February 21, Barreto-Hernandez appeared in court for his case and was arrested for another incident that occurred in Glendale on January 21. In this instance, a woman reported that she was sexually assaulted by an on-duty Amazon delivery driver, according to police.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office subsequently filed a mix of felony and misdemeanor charges for the two cases, as reported by police. According to The Los Angeles Times, Barreto-Hernandez faces charges for engaging in lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 and for touching someone without their consent for sexual arousal.
Barreto-Hernandez has entered a not guilty plea regarding the charges, according to CBS News Los Angeles, which referenced court documents.
Barreto-Hernandez, who has experience working for Amazon, Amazon Flex, and FedEx according to police, is currently out on bond.
The GPD announced it is looking for information regarding “potential additional victims” that Barreto-Hernandez might have targeted. Officials indicated that these individuals may contact the Glendale Police Department’s Assaults Unit.
According to Alisa Carroll, a spokesperson for Amazon, delivery drivers are “not Amazon employees,” as she stated to KABC in Los Angeles.
“Those who deliver to Amazon customers work for independent third-party delivery service providers,” she explained.
