A half-brother of a woman from Queens, who is facing charges for stabbing her father to death, has come forward to support her claims of childhood abuse. He revealed to the Daily News that her intense anger may have been fueled by the traumatic experiences she endured during her childhood.
Anna Cavak, 30, is set to be extradited from New Jersey to New York City on Wednesday to face murder charges in connection with the death of her 70-year-old father, Peter Cavak.
“I love the guy, but the truth of the matter is I don’t think Anna woke up one day and said, ‘Oh, I’m gonna kill my dad,’ ” said the suspect’s half-brother, who is the victim’s stepson.
“I believe she experienced a mental breakdown, a long-standing issue that had been building up inside her for many years,” stated the half-brother, who requested anonymity.

Authorities discovered the deceased body of Peter Cavak at his residence on 109th Ave. in South Richmond Hill on June 5th.
During a press briefing on Tuesday, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny shared a chilling account of the incident. According to the victim’s longtime girlfriend, who is also the suspect’s mother, she heard her daughter scream in distress. Acting swiftly, she entered the bedroom to find a horrifying scene: Anna Cavak on top of her father, with a Taser and his bloody body nearby.
Following the arrest of the woman in New Jersey, she provided a harrowing account of the abuse she and her late sister Angelica Cavak suffered from their father, according to Kenny.
According to Anna Cavak, her sister tragically passed away in October 2016 due to a drug overdose. She believes that her sister’s death was a result of the trauma she endured from her father’s abuse, leading to suicide.
“She mentioned that her sister had tragically taken her own life due to similar accusations, involving an abusive father,” Kenny explained.
Peter Cavak’s troubled upbringing was marked by the cycle of abuse passed down from his father, a Turkish immigrant who subjected him to violence and inflicted fear upon Peter Cavak’s mother, as revealed by Anna Cavak’s half-brother.
The half brother, who was raised by Peter Cavak from the age of 3, revealed the distressing experiences he went through as a child. He shared instances of painful and humiliating abuse, such as accidentally getting his privates caught in his zipper and having his face rubbed in urine when he had accidents in bed as reported by NYDaily News.
The half-brother stated that he never personally witnessed any instances of sexual abuse towards his half-sisters. However, he did mention that Anna Cavak confided in him at his Texas home last fall, sharing accusations that were similar to what Kenny had described.
