Cincinnati, OH: Youngstown City Schools Dean of Students pleads “not guilty” to domestic violence charge. Chivas Whipple, in addition to being a basketball coach at East High School, was also issued a temporary protection order by Judge Jeffrey Adler.
Stacy Quinones, the Communications and Public Relations Director, has confirmed that Whipple has been placed on leave. Following an incident where Whipple reportedly grabbed his daughter by the shirt and slammed her into a car, as per a police report.
According to the police report from Liberty Township Police Department, the incident took place just before 1:00 a.m. on Saturday on the 2900 Block of Anderson Morris Road during a fight.
When the police arrived, they talked to Whipple’s daughter, who was seen holding an ice pack on her head. According to the police, Whipple’s daughter was expected to stay with her mother that night. However, her mother allowed her to stay with her boyfriend until she returned from Pennsylvania to pick her up.

According to authorities, Whipple was angry because his daughter did not disclose her whereabouts. According to Whipple’s daughter, she informed the police that he emerged from his car, seized her, and tossed her around.
According to police, a video recorded the incident where Whipple is seen approaching his daughter, yelling at her, and then grabbing her by the shirt before slamming her into a car, leaving a dent.
The police reported that Whipple kept his daughter pinned over the vehicle with his left forearm on her throat while shouting at her.
According to authorities, Whipple persisted in forcefully pushing his daughter against the car and shouting at her until her boyfriend finally emerged to intervene.
As per the records, Whipple allegedly struck his daughter in the face with an open hand, causing her to fall to the ground. He then proceeded to confront his daughter’s boyfriend and yell at him.

Whipple informed officers that he was disciplining his daughter for supposedly lying about her whereabouts, but authorities characterized the incident as “excessive in nature.” Police clarified the distinction to Whipple regarding discipline and abuse.
Whipple was taken to Trumbull County Jail on February 24 for a Domestic Violence charge and was later released on bond. He refused to provide a statement, however, the court mandated him to participate in anger management as a requirement for his bond.
Whipple’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 14.
