Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley said that two people have been arrested on charges that they robbed a home in March, tied up a couple from Gulfport, and hit a man with a knife.
The robbery has been under investigation by police since March 31, when two thieves showed up around 6 a.m. in the 12000 block of Cypress Bayou Drive in Gulfport, tied up a man and his fiancĂ©e with zip ties, and stole cash, jewellery, and the man’s black 2018 Dodge Charger.
Daniel James Brown, 31, and Octavia Jermaine Winters, 41, were caught stealing things and are now being charged with that crime. Police say Winters is also being charged with burglary, auto theft, and aggravated attack.
Police said they found a cell phone that one of the suspects had left at the house. On April 3, Winters was caught. Brown was caught on May 1 and is thought to have been there when the theft happened.
Authorities say the couple got out of the zip ties and drove to the hospital. In March, deputies said the man who was hit by the knife was in good health. After some time, the Dodge Charger was found on Dedeaux Road.
Both Winters and Brown are being held in the Harrison County jail on bonds of $625,000 and $500,000.
