DENVER, Colo. – A tense series of events unfolded Thursday evening north of Denver when a suspect injured an Adams County deputy and led officers on two separate vehicle chases, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
Incident Timeline
Authorities say the situation began around 5:18 p.m. near Corona Street and Essex Drive, close to Thornton, when deputies attempted to pull over a vehicle connected to gunfire reports. Instead of complying, the driver allegedly fired multiple rounds and fled the scene, prompting an initial pursuit.
Deputies later recovered a firearm believed to belong to the suspect.
However, the driver soon returned to the scene, firing more shots before striking a deputy with his vehicle, injuring the officer’s leg. The sheriff’s office described the injuries as minor.
Second Pursuit and Arrest
Following the collision, the suspect fled once again, sparking a second high-speed chase. The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed into a deputy’s patrol vehicle, at which point law enforcement officers took the individual into custody.
No deputies discharged their weapons during the incident, and no other injuries were reported.
Ongoing Investigation
The identity of the driver has not yet been released, and authorities say multiple charges are expected in connection with the shootings, assaults, and vehicle chases.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the full sequence of events.
