Children Devastated after Father Shot Dead in Front of Them in Apparent Road Rage Incident; Killer Arrested in North Carolina

A father was tragically shot and killed while driving with his three children in North Carolina, following a road rage incident where another driver opened fire on their vehicle, investigators report.

A 75-year-old man, who fled the scene, was later apprehended thanks to the assistance of witnesses, according to a news release from the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, at approximately 4:53 p.m., an incident occurred close to the intersection of Island Point Road and North View Harbour Drive in the Sherrills Ford area, roughly 36 miles north of Charlotte.

Upon arrival, deputies found an adult male who seemed to have died from gunshot wounds. According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies were told by eyewitnesses that another man shot the victim after both had stopped and gotten out of their vehicles.

Witnesses indicated that the gunman discharged several shots into the victim’s car during the event. The vehicle involved was occupied by the victim’s three children, aged 13, 11, and two. The victim’s children were unharmed.

According to officials, witnesses provided deputies with details about the suspect and his vehicle, which directed them to a residence just two-tenths of a mile south on Island Point Road.

Authorities reported the arrest of Terrell Eugene Giddens at his residence. Officials reported that he faces charges of murder along with three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Giddens remains in custody with no bond set.

Authorities have not disclosed the reasons behind the conflict between the two men.
