Honk News (Riverbank, CA) – A teacher from Riverbank High School was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon, facing allegations of engaging in a sexual relationship with a student, as reported by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.
Dulce Flores, a Spanish teacher, is reportedly in a relationship with a 17-year-old male student in 2023. Since 2016, she has been shaping young minds at Riverbank High.
“The investigation began after a school official received information about the relationship from another party,” reads a post on the Facebook page of Riverbank Police Services. “Investigators have since been working to determine the facts of the case before making an arrest.”
According to a statement from the Riverbank Unified School District, Flores will take a leave of absence during the investigation of the case. The district plans to work alongside authorities as needed and will keep parents and students in Flores’ classes informed to ensure that there is minimal disruption to their learning for the rest of the academic year.
Superintendent Constantino Aguilar expressed in the statement, “It is indeed regrettable for our district to encounter a situation of this nature.” The district is actively collaborating with law enforcement and is exploring potential options to independently tackle this issue.
The district announcement emphasizes that RUSD implements rigorous hiring standards to select its personnel and “demands only the highest quality and professionalism from our team.”
The Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to Riverbank Unified School District for its quick reporting and collaboration, which helped investigators clarify the details of the delicate situation.
Flores has been taken into custody with a bail set at $20,000.
