A major transition in Tom Selleck’s life might be on the horizon. The popular CBS crime thriller “Blue Bloods” has featured the 79-year-old actor since 2010, but the series is ending later this year. Selleck might have to sell his property in California if he can’t keep the money he makes from it.
While appearing on “CBS Sunday Morning,” he discussed his distinguished career spanning several decades. During their conversation, he made the comment, “You know, hopefully, I keep working enough to hold onto the place.”
“The place” refers to his ranch in Ventura County, California, which spans 63 acres. He bought it in 1988, right after he left “Magnum: PI.” Before the drought, it was an avocado farm, but now Selleck is concentrating on restoring it.
He became an actor by complete accident. Taking a theatrical class for an easy A in college derailed his lifelong dream of being a professional baseball player.
He began receiving credit for his acting work in the late 1960s, and his star has only grown since then. It would appear that Selleck has no plans to retire from acting even if “Blue Bloods” concludes this year.
As he looked ahead to his acting career, he stated, “As an actor, you never lose – I don’t lose, anyway – that sense that every time I finish a job, it’s my last job.”
His ideal situation would be to continue production on “Blue Bloods.” Even though the series finale is supposed to air this winter, he is still hoping for a reversal of the decision.
