Black Bear Kills Man and Dog Near South Florida Nature Preserve

The black bear that killed a man and a dog in South Florida was being looked for by police on Monday.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said in a statement that the attack happened in the country east of Naples, just south of the Big Cypress Wildlife Management Area.

Wildlife police said the animal might still be in the area on Monday, so people should be careful and stay away from the area. Wildlife and police officers in the area were looking for the bear.

The police did not say when they believe the attack happened or give out the name of the guy who was killed.

Black bears in Florida used to be a threat, but in recent years, especially in more rural parts of north and central Florida, they have been wandering into neighbourhoods and private land more and more.
