Authorities Arrested North Carolina Man after Lengthy Probe; Charged with Child Abuse

A Greenville resident has been arrested and is currently in custody on child abuse charges after an extensive investigation, as reported by the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office.

A 37-year-old man named Brandon Ward Garris has been taken into custody and is facing charges of felony child abuse, which led to serious physical injury.

Deputies initially received a report of child abuse on April 24 at the Maynard Children’s Hospital and collected relevant information. Investigators launched an inquiry to collect evidence in collaboration with family members, DSS, and ECU Health officials.

Officials used follow-up doctor appointments and the receipt of medical records to determine the appropriate charge related to child abuse.
