Honk News (Austin, TX) — A Round Rock assistant principal from IDEA Public Schools was taken into custody last month for inappropriately touching a student on school grounds.
Aaron Freeman, aged 49, faces charges of second-degree felony indecency with a child by contact, according to the Round Rock Police Department.
Authorities indicate that the situation was brought to their attention by the student, leading to a swift inquiry.
Court documents reveal that the event took place on February 21, with an arrest warrant issued on February 28 in Travis County.
Freeman has since been apprehended by U.S. Marshals and is now in custody at the Williamson County Jail.
The reason for the arrest warrant being filed in Travis County instead of Williamson County remains uncertain.
IDEA Public Schools provided a statement to FOX 7 Austin regarding the arrest, stating:
“IDEA Round Rock Tech is aware of an arrest made involving a staff member for allegations of inappropriate behavior with a student. The staff member was arrested off campus on administrative leave. We are working in collaboration with law enforcement and taking appropriate actions in accordance with the law and network policy. IDEA takes these allegations seriously and is committed to prioritizing the safety and well-being of staff and students. As this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot comment further. All questions should be directed to the Round Rock Police Department.”
