An aspiring politician from West Bountiful has been arrested on charges of child sexual abuse.
Brady John Tracy, 37, has been taken into custody and is now being held at the Davis County Jail. The charges against him include three counts of attempted aggravated sexual abuse of a child, which is a first-degree felony, as stated in a police affidavit.
Allegations have been made against Tracy regarding incidents involving a child. It is claimed that these incidents occurred on multiple occasions between April and November of 2023.
Charging documents state that Tracy allegedly inappropriately touched the child and exposed himself, even asking the child to touch him.
Based on the affidavit, authorities are requesting that Tracy be denied bail due to the seriousness of his charges and the potential risk of him fleeing.
Tracy competed for the District 8 seat of the Utah Senate but was unsuccessful in securing the position at the Republican convention in April. In June 2022, he ran for the Utah State Board of Education District 4 but was unsuccessful in his bid, losing out in the Republican convention.
Tracy was disqualified from the 2019 West Bountiful City Council election for not submitting the necessary candidate financial disclosure report on time.
Prior to that, Tracy experienced a setback in the Constitution convention in 2014 when he ran for Utah House of Representatives District 20.
