According to authorities, a 61-year-old Arlington man fired at his wife when she instructed him to put out the fire, and the man sparked a fire that spread to his home. The guy died at the hospital.
According to a news statement from Arlington police, the suspect was trying to escape the fire when the woman was hit by a bullet, and one of the officers got minor burns.
Officers were called to a shooting incident in the 800 block of Connolly Terrace at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Monday, and when they arrived, they discovered the house was on fire. It was an unusual scenario. According to the authorities, the fire originated in the backyard and was moving into the house.
The 61-year-old woman had a bullet graze on her when the police came. The woman reported to police that her spouse had been struggling with both physical and mental health problems. She claimed that after telling him to put out the fire he had set in the yard, he pulled out a revolver and shot her.
When the wife managed to reach a neighbor’s home, she requested that they dial 911. She was brought to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
In the backyard, beneath a heap of blazing brush, the officers discovered her spouse. He was sent to a hospital in critical condition after suffering severe burns. The individual passed away, and the police were informed Tuesday morning.
One of the officers was slightly hurt while he was being pulled to safety. The policeman was brought to a nearby hospital. Police made a statement saying, “We’re grateful to report that he is OK and was released from the hospital Monday night.”
On Monday night, Arlington fire crews put out the fire.
According to the fire brigade, the man was armed and had shot someone, so they were unable to enter the residence right away.
