Honk News (Dothan, AL) – A teenage girl was saved by hotel staff in Dothan after officials reported that a 46-year-old man had compelled her into a room on Sunday afternoon.
Hotel staff witnessed the kidnapping, intervened to rescue the teenager from the room, and promptly contacted emergency services. The individual was swiftly apprehended.
Steven Ayers faces serious charges of kidnapping in the first degree and sexual abuse in the first degree.
At approximately 1 p.m., authorities in Dothan were alerted to a potential abduction incident occurring at a hotel located in the 2100 block of Ross Clark Circle.
Upon arrival, the officers were informed by employees about a man who was compelling a woman into a hotel room. According to Police Chief William Benny, the housekeepers stepped in and saved the girl, who is a minor.
The suspect evaded police efforts to establish communication, making a swift escape on foot from the second floor of the hotel.
Law enforcement swiftly encircled the individual and apprehended him without delay.

The individual reported to authorities that Ayers had attempted to engage her in inappropriate behavior, which she declined.
Ayers proceeded to make an inappropriate advance toward the victim, prompting her to attempt to exit the vicinity. According to police reports, Ayers allegedly seized the girl from behind and compelled her into a hotel room.
Officials reported that Ayers and the victim were not acquainted.
Ayers remains in custody at the Houston County Jail without the option for bond.
