Two Men Arrested After Drug Bust During Traffic Stop in Jackson County

TOPEKA, Kan. — Two Kansas men are behind bars after deputies discovered drugs and paraphernalia during a traffic stop in Jackson County on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped a GMC Yukon around 1:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 75 near 142nd Road. During the stop, a K-9 unit was deployed and alerted deputies to the presence of illegal drugs inside the vehicle.

A search of the SUV uncovered methamphetamine, marijuana, several items of drug paraphernalia, and open containers, the sheriff’s office said.

Suspects Identified and Arrested

Deputies arrested 48-year-old Shawn Michael Kilburn, of Topeka, and 52-year-old Ronald Allon Robinson, of Lawrence, in connection with the discovery.

Kilburn was booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges of:

  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Probation violation

Robinson was also booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges of:

  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Both suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues.

Authorities have not released additional details about the quantity of drugs seized or the intended destination of the substances.
