Man Arrested After Deadly Shooting in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that took place Sunday afternoon in Fairfield, authorities confirmed.

Police Respond to Fatal Shooting

According to the Fairfield Police Department, officers were dispatched around 1:07 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 2000 block of Cambridge Drive.

When officers arrived, they found a man in his 40s suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite emergency efforts, the victim died from his injuries at the scene.

Suspect Known to the Victim

Investigators said the suspect knew the victim and had fled the area before officers arrived. However, firefighters in the vicinity spotted the individual a short time later and alerted police.

Responding officers quickly located and took the 21-year-old suspect into custody without incident.
